The aim of this module is to support the development of students’ business analysis and strategic decision making skills, and for the students to demonstrate the ability to research, analyze and present information coherently to support a recommended course of action.
Students completing the module successfully should:
A Demonstrate critical awareness of current research in business and management through independent analysis of a relevant business case.
B Select and apply appropriate models, frameworks or tools to provide critical analysis of a business case.
C Research and present convincing and reasoned arguments to formulate solutions for strategic action.
D Analyze ambiguous information and make reasoned judgements and recommendations within a dynamic and changing environment.
The module will involve a small taught element covering issues of strategic decision making and data analysis for decision making. This taught element will also prepare them for a strategic business analysis simulator, and prepare them for analysis of information using such online databases, such as Passport GMID and Business Source Premier. Thereafter, students will be provided with a dedicated project supervisor to provide guidance on the independent case-based independent research project. This will involve desk-based, secondary research resources only
