Aims and Fit of Module

This module is designed to be taught in semester 2 of the MRes Management degree and follows the teaching of three modules, taught in semester 1, which cover the research process, qualitative methods, and quantitative methods. Although these semester 1 modules place an emphasis on developing an understanding and skills necessary to undertake a dissertation, a student will also require an understanding of how to write a thesis. The aim of this module, therefore, is to equip students with the knowledge and practical skills required to develop and write the MRes Management dissertation.

Learning outcomes

A) Demonstrate comprehension of academic texts and research theses, with an emphasis on critical analysis. B) Comprehend the structure of research theses and academic texts, based on a knowledge of the research process. C) Plan, structure, and produce the individual sections of an MRes thesis, which together form a coherent dissertation.
