Aims and Fit of Module

The aim of the module is to bring together students, supervisors, and relevant stakeholders to carefully define the problem, its scope, and its boundaries. By the end of the module, a revised and upgraded project charter will be formulated, alongside a detailed plan for investigating and analysing the problem. The module will also establish regular review and progression meeting mechanisms to ensure continuous project movement.

Learning outcomes

A. Clearly articulate a problem, including its scope, boundaries, and key deliverables. B. Develop a project charter by appropriately engaging stakeholders. C. Use Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) to propose a project schedule. D. Formulate the project budget and duration baseline with justifications. E. Develop mechanisms for tracking milestones, performance, and task outcomes.

Method of teaching and learning

• Collaborative Discussions: Group discussions with students, supervisors, and stakeholders to align on the project’s scope, boundaries, and objectives. • Expert Presentations: Industry professionals and faculty members will present best practices in problem definition, project management, and investigation methods. • Workshops for Charter Formulation: Collaborative work to draft and refine the project charter, ensuring all aspects, including scope, deliverables, and timelines, are well-defined.
