The aims of this module are twofold: to familiarise students with past and current theoretical and methodological approaches to language and gender, and to develop their critical understanding of current theories of language and gender as well as their ability to apply these in real data and real-life situations. This module introduces to students key theoretical and analytical approaches to language and gender, and encourages them to select their own material for analysis on the basis of relevance to their studies and interests after being equipped with the necessary skills to undertake critical analysis of the phenomena of language and gender encountered in the course of their studies and beyond.
