This module prepares students for progression to the BA Translation and Interpreting programme by providing a structured introduction to the discipline’s core concepts, modes and professional contexts. Through case studies, guided discussion and introductory translation and interpreting tasks, students explore the interplay between theory and practice and examine how translation is shaped by wider social, cultural and technological change. The module establishes the foundational disciplinary knowledge and critical judgement required for subsequent study in translation and interpreting.
