This module provides students with an opportunity for in-depth reflection and critical discussion around key concepts and debates in urban regeneration across different geographical contexts and scales. Through intensive-readings and discussions, students will develop a deeper understanding of the practices and theories about urban regeneration.
A. Identify major trends and debates in urban regeneration literature B. Demonstrate critical perspectives on contested urban regeneration issues C. Demonstrate capacity to present and communicate a robust, meaningful and well evidenced argument quickly and effectively D. Combine key ideas from critical discussions and to formulate a theoretically informed analysis on recent policy approaches to urban regeneration
This module is delivered through a series of lectures, seminar discussions, and student presentations in which students will develop critical viewpoints towards various urban regeneration issues. Students will learn how to use evidence from academic and policy publications and their own research to enhance classroom discussion and back up the arguments.
